The U-shape is designed so that both arms of the pillow support you simultaneously. The long side runs along your back and holds you from rolling backward. The curved shorter side tucks under your belly and between your knees, keeping your hips level and taking pressure off your lower back. You slide in from the open end of the U and the pillow does the rest.

Is the cover machine washable?
Yes. The velvet cover has a zipper closure so you can remove it and wash it separately. The pillow inner itself should be spot-cleaned only.
Can I use it when I'm not pregnant?
Absolutely. The U-shape is helpful for anyone who sleeps on their side and wants back, hip, or knee support — or for anyone who likes a cushioned nest for reading and lounging in bed.
Does it keep its shape over time?
The pillow is filled with soft responsive fill that bounces back after use. Over time some flattening is normal with any filled pillow — the cover's zipper lets you access the fill if you want to redistribute it.
How do I get into the pillow?
Lay the pillow flat with the U opening facing the foot of the bed. Lie down on your side and slide backward into the U so that the long arm runs along your back and the shorter arm curves in front of your belly. You can adjust which side is front or back.
